Esther Lorene (Alvey) Mock passed away Tuesday, November 14 at Reid Hospital.

She was born on September 14, 1932 at home in Liberty, Indiana.  Esther was the oldest of eight children born to John R. and Hazel Alvey.  She graduated from Richmond High School class of 1950.  She was married to the love of her life, James “Jimmy” Mock, 52 years.

Esther worked at Anchor glass, waitressed at the Rainbow Cafe, clerked at Ladd n Lass then retired after 20 years of working at Maul Technology.  She enjoyed watching televised professional sports, the annual family fishing vacation to Hillman Michigan, visiting with siblings, kids and grandkids.  Esther was a member of the Winchester Congregational Christian Church, former member of Eastern Star and volunteered at Reid Hospital.  She had been a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and softball coach.

She is survived by her siblings, Carolyn Schwab, Edna Pittman, “Bonnie” Kenworthy (Clay), John (Deanna) Alvey, Jr., Ruth Haskett, Phillip Alvey (Lucille), Phyllis Hildebrand (Michael), numerous nieces and nephews, daughters Marsha Beeson, Kelly (Tom) Hale, granddaughters Melissa (Joe) Batt, Tara Phillips (Rusty Luster), great-grandchildren Maria Batt, Carson Batt, Isabella Phillips, Evan Batt and her beloved dog, Sadie.  Esther was preceded in death by husband James “Jim” Mock, mother Hazel Alvey and Father John Alvey, Sr.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., on Friday, November 17, 2017, at the East Street Congregational Christian Church, in Winchester, with Pastor Rob Butler officiating. Burial will follow at the Fountain Park Cemetery.

Friends and family may call from 4-7 p.m., on Thursday, November 16, at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester.  Memorials can be made to James M. Mock Memorial Scholarship Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home.
