Josephine "Jo" Michael, 93, of Winchester, left this earth to go to her heavenly home and be with the Lord on April 28, 2024. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by love with her family by her side.
Jo was born in Farmington, Michigan on June 2, 1930, to the late Harold and Meredith Dunham. Her mother passed away when she was only 5 years old. She was then blessed with a wonderful second mother, Mildred Harter Dunham. Jo spent most of her life in the Union City and Winchester area. She was a member of the Harrisville Congregational Christian Church since 1951 when she was saved and accepted Jesus as her personal savior. She taught children's Sunday school, was the vacation bible school director, Ladies Aid President and sang in the choir for many years, these titles only begin to scratch the surface of the many active years she was involved in the church. Her life belonged to the Lord and her faith in Him was one of her life's passions. Jo shared a love of flying with her late husband, Bill. She completed her first solo flight at the age of 60, earning her a private pilot license. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William "Bill" Michael; sisters, Phyllis Holsapple, Sue Brown and Char Thornburg: and brother, Duane Dunham. Survivors include one loving son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Robin Michael; 4 beloved grandchildren, Chris (Heather) Michael, Cheri (Kirk) Fillinger, Jim (Jammie) Michael, and Melanie (Eric) Barker; great- grandchildren, Courtney (Erich) Widmer, Clay (Megan) Fillinger, Macie and Faith Fillinger, Reece Michael, Alexa and Chloe Barker, Chelsy (Brandon) Huffman, Audrie Miller, and Remi and Easton Chalfant; great-great-grandchildren Lilliana and Gemma Widmer and Titan Fillinger; one sister Jan Dunham.
A service to celebrate Jo’s life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Harrisville Congregational Christian Church in Harrisville, with Pastor Coleman Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Union City Cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
