Betty J (Howell) Wymer

Betty J. (Howell) Wymer, of Modoc, Indiana, passed away on April 28, 2024 in her sleep.  She was born on August 3, 1934 to Juanita and Hancil (Hank) Howell. 

Betty was retired after 35 years from Anchor Hocking and went on to work at the Chocolate Moose for 22 years.  Her passion in life was cooking mainly for family and then for all others.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, attending Buena Vista Church, vacationing with her daughter, riding on the back of a motorcycle up to the age of 82, and playing cards.

Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa S. McCoy; husband, Max G. Wymer; her mother and father, Juanita and Hancil (Hank) Howell; her brothers, Junior, Marvin, Raymond, and Rex Howell; and a sister, Dorothy Miller.

Betty is survived by her son, Scott Wymer, wife Lori; daughter Tammy Wymer; son-in-law, Kenny McCoy, wife Nikki; two grandchildren, Brett McCoy and Amber Lumpkin, husband Scott; five great grandchildren, Gavin and Bella Street, Jasper Lumpkin, Jack and Charleigh McCoy; brothers, Jack Howell, Ronnie Howell, wife Angie, and Keith Howell; sisters, Nancy Craw, Violet Buis, and Marlene Winans, husband Dick; sister-in-law, Carolyn Stiver, husband, Ronnie; and many nieces and nephews including the greats.

A service to celebrate Betty’s life will be at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Walker Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Conner officiating.  Burial will follow at Fountain Park Cemetery.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Keystone Hospice, 8455 Keystone Crossing, Indianapolis, IN 46240, is strongly encouraged by the family.
