Linda “Chickie” Elaine Armstrong, 77, passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 22nd, 2021 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. She was born on April 1st, 1943 in Winchester, the only child of Harold and Helen “Holly” (McCoy) Felty. A 1961 graduate of Winchester Community High School, she worked a variety of jobs including at the Moose Lodge in Winchester, Meinderding’s in Fort Recovery, Oh, Westinghouse Corporation in Union City, Winchester Speedway, and the Airline Drive-In in Winchester. She spent several years working as a 911 Operator and Dispatcher for the Randolph County Sheriff’s department, and retired in 2007 after working 26 years for the Indiana Division of Family and Children. She married Thomas W. Armstrong Sr. in 1967 and they had two sons.

She loved her boys, but the real light of her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known to them as “Nana” and spent her retirement years going to every single softball, baseball, and soccer game, every play, musical, birthday party, or school event that she could. She was the world’s proudest Nana. Anyone who knew Chickie knows she was a practical joker with an ornery streak, and she always had a story to share. She loved to laugh, and to make others laugh. Her favorite kind of day was spent with family, telling stories of her youth, and cooking them more delicious food than they could eat.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved aunts and uncles, and several dear friends. Left to remember her life are her two sons, Thomas Armstrong of Winchester, and Clint (Brenda) Armstrong of Morrow, Ohio; three grandchildren, Bryn (Joseck) Albertson of Winchester, Rhiannon (Eric Fennig) Armstrong of Salamonia, and Storm (Allie Brinkerhoff) Armstrong of Portland; six great grandchildren, Daegan, Adalyn, Brianna, Shelby, Wyatt, and Waylon, several adored cousins, and close, special friends.

Chickie’s family would like to thank the staff at Parker Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Parker City for the care and love they gave to Chickie, and also the nurses and doctors who cared for her at IU Health Ball Memorial. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 8th, 2021 at Goodrich Park in Winchester. Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours from 1-4PM to visit, and share stories and memories about Chickie. Honoring her wishes to be cremated, there will be no burial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider donating to your local animal shelter or to the ASPCA in Chickie’s name, as she always had a soft spot for animals.
