Wendell Cochran, 98, passed away January 30, 2024, at Ball Memorial Hospital.
He had worked at I&M starting after college until his retirement, 47 years with the same company.
After retirement, he and his wife Ellen (of 72 years of marriage) enjoyed traveling to tourist locations in the United States and several National Lions Club conventions. Not only was he a very active member of the Winchester Club, but traveled on some eyeglass missions to Mexico, South America, and Africa.
Bowling was an important activity for him and he enjoyed it unto his 80’s. He was an avid Purdue Sports fan and followed the Pacers and the Colts.
Wendell is survived by three children, Craig Cochran (Sandi Penar), Melanie (Dennis) Miller, and Deb Cochran. He was also the patriarch of the family that included six grandchildren, several great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ellen, and daughters, Sue Ann and Teresa Lynn.
A service to celebrate Wendell’s long life will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Walker Funeral Home.
