Wallace Aaron Bennett, 84, of Lynn, IN, passed away on Friday, July 26 th after a short stay at The Springs in Richmond, IN.
Wallace was born on August 5, 1939 to James and Rosa (Collins) Bennett in Jackson County Kentucky. Wallace met the love of his life, Lucille Brockman and they were married on March 11 th , 1960. Although they did not have any children of their own, they were very active in the lives of their nieces and nephews. He especially enjoyed his visits from his great-great nieces and nephews, James and Amelia Adkins and Sarah and Asher Brown. He lit up every time they came to visit. In Lucy’s words, “He was a good man, if ever there was one.”
Wallace worked at Anchor Glass for over 35 years and after retiring from Anchor, he worked part-time at Thornburg’s Super-Value in Lynn, until he retired again. Wallace attended Chapelwood Baptist Church and was a founding member, deacon, and song leader. He loved gardening, working in his flowers, and cooking.
Wallace was predeceased in death by his parents and six brothers: Wayne, Ralph, Edgar, Hurshel, Ivan, and Amos Bennett and three sisters: Dorthy Abshire, Georgia Hurley, Geraldine Huss. He is survived by his wife, Lucille and a special cousin Ophelia Culton. “Wally” always appreciated her phone calls and checking in on him and Lucy.
Services will be held at Chapelwood Baptist Church,1097 N Old Hwy 27, Winchester, Indiana on August 2 2024 . The viewing will be from 11-1 with the funeral at 1pm. Burial to follow at Fountain Park Cemetery.
