Thelma Elizabeth (Wright) Brouse died on Tuesday, February 28th at Pineknoll Rehabilitation Center after long-term illness. She was born on October 8, 1928 to Albert and Lena Wright, Cairo, Ohio. Thelma was the youngest of four, and had 3 brothers that served in WWII.
She married Vernon (Sonny) Brouse on June 20, 1948 and enjoyed 50 years together before his death in 1998. She is survived by her children, Virginia married to John Lynch (Massachusetts), Bruce and Charlene (Manifold) of Winchester, and Keith and Tammy (Whitesel) of Union City. Eight grandchildren and 10 great-children, with another on the way, are a result of their union.
Thelma worked and retired as a school cafeteria worker at the Driver Elementary/Junior High and Winchester Community High Schools. She was a hard-worker, a devoted mother who also enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, sewing, and quilting. She was a 60-year member of the Winchester Congregational Christian Church, singing in the choir and belonging to the Women Fellowship Group.
A celebration of Thelma’s life will be at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, March 6, 2023, at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will follow at Fountain Park Cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1p.m., on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Winchester Congregational Christian Church.
