Susan Kay (Criss) Norris

Susan K. Norris, 80, of Richmond and Winchester, IN, passed away on June 6, 2024 after illness. Sue was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 25th, 1943, to Janet and Erwin Criss of Richmond.

She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and Dennis Middle School, and graduated from Richmond High School in 1962. As an Air Force wife for many years, she lived in or near bases located in Michigan, Ohio, California, Louisiana, and Arizona. Sue was a long-time employee of Indiana University East, retiring after 26 years. Sue married John Norris of Winchester in 1987 and lived in both Winchester and Lake Placid, FL until John’s death in 2021. They loved to square dance and play cards at the Phi Delt Club. Sue loved her pets, Schnauzers Sandy and Max, and was a strong supporter of animal welfare programs.

She is survived by brother Gary Criss of Richmond, daughters Kimberly Cruea of Indianapolis and Nancy Chappell (David) of Westerville, OH, grandson Thomas Roberts of Columbus OH, niece and nephew Christi Nash and Greg Harrison, and stepdaughter Kimberly Foust (Troy) of Winchester.

Walker Funeral Home in Winchester is entrusted with the arrangements. A service to celebrate Sue’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 13th at the Walker Funeral Home, 248 E South St, Winchester, IN with Father Martin Sandhage officiating, with burial to follow at a later date.

Friends and family may call from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sue’s name may be made to the Winchester/Randolph County Animal Shelter, 900 N West St. in Winchester. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerswinchester.com.
