Shelia Faye Branum Peebles McCammon, 74, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at Pine Knoll in Winchester. Shelia was born on June 17, 1952, in Sheffield, Alabama, to Robert Duncan “R.D.” Peebles and Juanita Janell (Nell) Kimbrough Peebles. She attended Winchester Community High School and later proudly obtained her GED in 1991 alongside her son, Christopher Branum. Shelia continued her education by graduating from Amber’s Beauty School in cosmetology and went on to work at the Mane Attraction beauty shop. She was also employed for many years at Anchor Hocking and Duffy Tool and Dye.
Shelia had a gift for bringing people together and loved being surrounded by others. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether at Bingo, the casino, family gatherings, or game nights. She found joy in the simple things — tending to flowers, creating crafts, cooking, and canning. Her home and heart were always filled with love, laughter, and memories.
Shelia is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Douglass McCammon; her daughter, Stacey Branum Barnes; grandchildren Jaron, Jaicee, and Trinity Barnes, and Triston Harden; six great-grandchildren, Gwen, Gerald, and Malcolm Barnes, Averiana Starkey, Gianna Thomas, and Kabrion Barnes; two sisters, Mary Jane (Billy) Cochran and Carla (Trent) Durham; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones. She is also survived by her beloved dogs, Zuzu and Bitty.
Shelia was preceded in death by her parents, R.D. and Nell Peebles; her son, Christopher Branum; and her grandson, Damon Jenks.
Shelia will forever be remembered for her kindness, unwavering integrity, and deep love for her family. Her laughter, wisdom, and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories that will continue to live on through her family and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Shelia’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Walker Funeral Home. Pastor Chris Black will officiate. Burial will follow in Jericho Cemetery.
