Shane Eric Simmons

Shane Eric Simmons, 57, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025 with his family by his side, at Waters Edge, after a very long struggle with FTD (Frontotemporal Dementia).  He was born on December 19, 1967 in Winchester to Dennis Simmons and Carolyn (Williams) Weist.

Shane was a 1986 graduate of Winchester Community High School.  He was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and all types of racing.  Shane loved fishing, golfing, playing horseshoes, and playing cards.  He also loved singing karaoke and dancing.   Shane worked for Goodhew Roofing also at Hinshaw Tool and Die and CXS Railroad.  He was always proud of being a Phi Delta Kappa.  Shane loved his family, friends, nieces, and nephews.

Shane is survived by his mother, Carolyn Weist (Dave); sisters, Angela (Todd) Hummel and Dena (Dave) Reno; brothers, Brian Weist (Andrea) and Scott Weist (Amanda); many nieces and nephews.

Shane was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Simmons; grandparents Don and Betty Williams and Bob and Helen Weeler; aunts and uncles, Rita Taylor, Rick Simmons, Linda Simmons and Mike Simmons.

A service to celebrate Shane will be at 5:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the Winchester Phi Delta Kappa, with Pastor Jeff Straley officiating.  Friends and family may call an hour before services on Thursday at the Phi Delta Kappa.
