Robert Lee Turner, 88, passed away on June 12, 2023. He was born November 14, 1934. Bobby grew up on the farm with his parents Walter and Goldie (Reisch) Turner and 5 siblings.
He graduated from Wayne High School in 1952, where he played basketball with best friends Denver Durham and Tom Price. His classmates remained close and had periodic get togethers. After high school, he went into the Army, June 18, 1957 and was discharged June 17, 1959. He then went to work at Anchor Class as Batch Department Manager for 45½ years, then as a Security Guard for Workhorse for 13 years.
Bobby married Susie (Shaffer) Smith in 1986. Together they have 5 children, Liz (Jerry) Shaw, Tim (Jill) Smith, Rich Turner, Missy Smith and Valerie Turner. Bobby was a wonderful husband and father.
Bobby and Susie loved to travel the US in their 5th wheel RV. Bobby was a member of the Winchester Friends Church. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and lived his life accordingly.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Susie; his children; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond Turner; his good friend, Harold Bercaw; and his doggie Barney.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Betty Leiurance, Helen Macy, and Maggie Day; and a brother, Ed Turner.
A service to celebrate Bobby’s life will be at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, June 19, 2023, at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester, with Pastor Ron Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.
Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Monday, at the funeral home.
