Richard "Rick" Lloyd Sanders

Richard (Rick) Lloyd Sanders, 48, of Winchester passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024. He was born on December 6, 1976, in Muncie, Indiana and lived in Winchester all of his life.

Rick has been a firefighter since 2008 for both Winchester and White River Township Fire Departments. He was a Wreck Master Certified tow truck operator and owner of Sanders' Service Auto Repair and Towing for the past 22 years. Rick was also a member of the Winchester Masonic Lodge #56.

Rick was an amazing father, brother, uncle...the favorite grumpy person to many in his family and community. He had a huge personality, never met a stranger and could talk to anyone for hours. He had no fear and lived life at full speed. He loved fast trucks, motorcycles, scuba diving and roller coasters that scared the crap out of his wife. He loved camping with family every chance he got. Rick was everyone's hero. He was the ONE you call—for anything. There was nothing he would not tackle. He was the one running TO the dangerous situation when everyone else was running away. Rick will leave a giant void in this community, and it would take a small army to fill his shoes. But no one or no one thing would ever come close to filling the void in our hearts right now.

Rick did not live a lot of years but lived a lot in those years.

Rick leaves behind his beautiful wife of 20 years, Billie Holaday Sanders; four children, Amanda (Chris) Engle, Abbey (Jake) Farrington, Jonathan Dillon, and Joseph Loudy; grandchildren, Kitsey Jo Engle, Aubriella Dillon, Demetri (Max) Sanders, and Sadie Engle will arrive in January; as well as being survived by his sister, Stephanie (Aron) Denney, brothers James Sanders, Brian Allen, and Chad Allen; and several nieces and nephews.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Lee Sanders and Beth Ellen (Wynn) Delk; his sister, Heather Sanders; and a brother, Rex Collins Delk.

Calling hours are Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 12 - 6 pm and on Sunday from 10:00 am until the service starts at noon. A service to celebrate Rick's life will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at 12 pm. All events are at the Winchester Fieldhouse.
