Richard Keith Peterson, 94 of Winchester, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, January 1, 2022.
He was born on October 8, 1927 to the late Robert and Grace Peterson. He married the love of his life, Vivian Hesser on October 23, 1948. She preceded him in death by 81 days after nearly 73 years. Together they were blessed with two sons Greg and Gary.
Richard began his 47 year banking career, while in high school, at the Saratoga State Bank in Saratoga, IN. After graduation, he served a year in the Army Air Corps Division and returned to the Saratoga State Bank. Around 1960, his banking expertise took him to The Randolph County Bank in Winchester where he finished his career in 1992 after serving as president for a number of years. Richard was a long standing member of the former United Methodist Church in Winchester.
Richard loved his family, his vegetable and flower gardens, playing euchre, entertaining in the home and shopping.
He is survived by a son Gary (Susan) Peterson, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Vivian, son Greg and siblings Beatrice, Charles and Robert Jr.
A service to celebrate Richard’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester with Rev. Jan Bunch officiating. Burial will follow at Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.
Friends and family may call from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Cancer Services for Randolph County.
