Nodena Sloan, 90, of Winchester, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at her home with family by her side.
She was born in Winchester, IN on March 1, 1935 to Orvil and Mildred Bradburn. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) E. Sloan, Jr. of 40 years who died in 2007. Nodena was a graduate of Winchester High School in 1952. She was a member of Maxville Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, garage sales, and thrifting, and she was an avid animal lover. Nodena had a sense of humor that kept the family and others entertained. She never knew a stranger, enjoyed talking to anyone, and she loved reminiscing, especially in recent years with her younger sister, Joy, and with her dear friend from school days, Sally (Macy) Everroad, who still kept in touch with her weekly. She was an excellent cook and passed on many of her recipes including some of the family favorites like her homemade noodles, cinnamon pinwheels, and pumpkin pie.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda (husband Don) Staton of Winchester; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and her sister Joy (husband Darrel) Dobbs of Muncie. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Brad Toschlog, Jeff Toschlog, Darrell Sloan (survived by Beverly Mayes); two grandsons, Jeffrey Toschlog II and Cory Toschlog; her daughter-in-law, Deana Sloan; two sisters, Nova Blanton and Pat McClellan and her brother Leonard Bradburn.
A celebration of Nodena’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 11th at 1:30pm at Walker Funeral Home in Winchester with Pastor Rob Butler officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.
