Monty Dale McCord

Monty Dale McCord, 69, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, June 25, 2023.  He was born on December 2, 1953 at the home of his parents, Elmer Ray McCord and Mary Beulah (Sims) McCord.  Monty grew up in rural Randolph County, Indiana.

Monty attended Randolph Central Schools.  He worked for Norfolk Western/Southern Railroad for 17 years.  He was a truck driver for 20 years.  He also operated McCord’s Apple Orchard for 17 years.  Monty loved farming, old tractors, and trains.  Monty’s greatest treasures were his two grandchildren, Lane and Mary Grace.

Monty leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Vickie of 46 years; his son, Brant (Lorinda) McCord; two grandchildren, Lane and Mary Grace; two brothers, Daniel (Margie) McCord and Leon (Joyce) McCord; 1 sister, Evelyn (Jim) Rutledge; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Monty was preceded in death by his loving parents and 11 siblings.

A service to celebrate Monty’s life will be at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the Bear Creek Friends Church, with Pastor Kevin Holt officiating.  Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the church.
