Milton Charles Shaffer

Milton Charles Shaffer, 83 of Winchester, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Reid Health in Richmond.  He was born on November 4, 1939 in Kasson West Virginia to George and Adis (Mouser) Shaffer. 

Charles was a 1959 graduate of Belington High School in West Virginia.  He worked at Anchor Hocking Glass for 43 years and was the Union President.  He attended services at Chapelwood Baptist Church to get the Gospel Singing. 

Charles also loved working with wood and making wood things, working on the farm cutting hay, and the pony’s on Junior Byrum’s farm in Winchester. Most of all, Charles loved hunting and fishing with his son Lowell and grandson Logan.  He loved working in his garden. 

Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet J. (Harris) Shaffer.  Charles married Janet on June 22, 1960, in Belington, West Virginia.  Charles has one son, Lowell Shaffer and one grandson, Logan.  He is also survived by two sisters, Eleanor (David) Robertson and Shirley (Tom) LaCroix all of Virginia; three brothers, Ira (Betty) Shaffer of Winchester; John (Nancy) Shaffer and Tom (Mildred) Shaffer all of West Virginia; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents.

A service to celebrate Charles life will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022 at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester, with Wayne Hedden officiating.  Burial will follow at Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Friday at the funeral home.
