Maxine Lee Cox, 88, of Winchester passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Reid Hospital in Richmond. She was born on July 19, 1934, in Springboro, Ohio, to Roscoe and Gertrude Gullett.
Maxine married Max Cox on March 18, 1953. Her life’s work was helping others – caring for those in the community. She enjoyed keeping house, attending Winchester Presbyterian Church, and tending to her seasonal flowers. Since 1969, Maxine organized the donation of throws and crocheted slippers to the Red Cross for the Veterans.
Maxine is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Max Cox; son, Rick Cox (Glenda); granddaughter, Courtney Cox (Jacques); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and one sister.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend, Maxine will be dearly missed.
A service to celebrate Maxine’s life will be at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the Walker Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Straley officiating. Burial will follow at Fountain Park Cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners https://lovetotherescue.org in Maxine’s honor.
