Lyle C. (Skip) Overmyer, Jr., 91, passed away on April 18, 2022 at Reid Hospital. He was born on April 14, 1931, to Lyle C Overmyer, Sr. and Mildred (Wright) Overmyer. Lyle was a 1949 graduate of Winchester High School and an Air Force Veteran. He later married Mary Lou Hale on February 7, 1953.
Lyle retired in 1990 from Overmyer Mould Company after 30 years. He previously worked at Drop Forge in Portland, mould shops in Hillsboro, IL as well as Lancaster, OH and sold Prudential Insurance.
Lyle was a member of the Winchester American Legion and the Moose Lodge No. 1977. He enjoyed old cars and woodworking
Lyle is survived by three sons, Glen Overmyer of Winter Haven, FL, Lyle (Skip) Overmyer, III (Sherry) and Charles Overmyer (Lori), both of Winchester. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Joshua Overmyer, Austin Overmyer (Jami), Natasha Dugdale, Ross Overmyer (Mykaliah), Hudson Overmyer (Adria), Kristen Cooper (Tyler) and Lauren Stalcup (Justin Petry) and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Joyce Sigler of Fort Myers FL, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service to celebrate Lyle’s life will be at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, April 25, 2022, at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester, with Pastor Melissa Kleinschmidt and Craig Overmyer officiating. Burial will follow at Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.
Friends and family may call from 12-2 p.m., on Monday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lyle’s name may be made to Countryside Christian Church, 1212 E. 100 S., Winchester, IN 47394, with envelopes available the funeral home.
