Lyle Long Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lyle L. Long in Venice, FL on April 5, 2025.

Born on February 20, 1947 to Jack and Juanita Long in Rushville, IN. He lived in Arlington, IN as a small child. The family moved to Winchester, where he went to school and made a lot of lifetime friends. He graduated from Muncie Central in 1965 and went on to serve in the Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran.

After returning home from the war he moved to Florida for several years. He moved back to Indiana in 2004. He was a self employed contractor, that did amazing work.

Known for his big smile and huge heart Lyle was loved by so many.

He loved playing golf, watching grandkids play sports, babysitting the youngest granddaughter Harper, helping others, and mowing the lawn. He loved the beach where him and Tina vacationed every year. He loved enjoying margaritas at sunset with their many beach friends, he called his beach family.

Lyle is survived by his son Trey (Julia) Scully of Royal Palm Beach, FL. His partner of 19 years Tina Prescott of Winchester. His sisters; Donna Crabtree of Muncie, and Brenda Krug of Muncie. Granddaughters; Sarah (Jared) Sculley of Fort Wayne, and Lauren Scully of Royal Palm Beach, FL. Nephew, Justin Krug of Muncie. As well as his bonus family; Jason (Angie) Prescott, Josh (Angi) Prescott, Ty Prescott (Kayla Cline). Grandchildren; Vince Prescott (Sydney Baldwin), Taylor Prescott (Tristen Erwin), Harper Prescott, Tangi (Everett) Applegate, Tanner (Jade) Steveson. Great grandsons; Cru Hess and Grayson Applegate. He also leaves behind a wide circle of family and friends who loved being around him and share his fun and laughter.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Steve Long, Sister Lonna Long, and brother Larry Long.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

By his wishes he wants donations made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital in his name.
