Kevin D. Newman, 60, of Winchester, went to be with the Lord on the early morning of September 21, 2021 after a series of health issues over the past few years.
Kevin was born to Glen and Mary (Barga) Newman on May 11, 1961 in Union City, Indiana. He was a 1979 graduate of Union City High School. On June 4, 1982 he married Brenda (Rees) Newman and went on to have two children, Kyle and Katie.
He was a plumber by trade for most of his life. He owned Newman Water Softeners Sales and Service for over 20 years until he semi-retired due to health limitations. He had the gift of service and could fix almost anything. Most often he was the first person people called when they had a problem.
He attended East Street Congregational Christian Church. Previously he was a member of the Winchester First Church of the Nazarene for many years. He loved to be outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening, and working on projects.
Kevin was above all else a family man. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and could always be seen smiling when he was with them. He also loved taking his beloved granddaughters for rides on his golf cart. He was always there to help and crack a joke.
He leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Brenda (Rees) Newman; two children, Kyle (Andrea) of Winchester and Katie Sadowski of Winchester; three granddaughters, Caroline Newman, Clara Newman, and Maebrie Sadowski; parents in-law, James and Carolyn Rees of Winchester; sisters Cheryll Newman of Winchester, Kathy Addington of Portland, and Teresa Diaz; brothers Wayne (Pat) Newman of Alabama and Mike Newman; brother-in-law David (Sarah) Rees of Winchester; sister-in-law Diana Rees of Winchester; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Mary (Barga) Newman; two sisters, Cindy Newman and Sue Howell; and a brother, Gerald Newman.
A service to celebrate Kevin’s life will be at 2:00 p.m., at East Street Congregational Christian Church in Winchester, with Pastor Rob Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Fountain Park Cemetery. East Street Church will live stream the service on both their Facebook and YouTube.
Friends and family may call from 12-2 p.m., on Saturday at the church.
Walker Funeral Home in Winchester is entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerswinchester.com.
