Judith Wagner Obituary

Judith Harris Wagner, 90, passed on to her heavenly home, on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025 in Muncie, Indiana. Judy lived all her days true to her Quaker roots of Simplicity and Truth, and steadfastly sought, even when her body opposed her, to do what was right and good. Her legacy will live on through her family, friends and the many lives she touched.

Born in Winchester, Indiana, she was raised on a “gentleman farm” by pattern maker Joe (Leah) Harris and moved to Deerfield when she was a child. She met her future husband, Ivan, in first grade, and continued together with him in school through college. The couple married after their freshman year at Ball State and lived nearly 71 years together, ending recent evenings holding hands.

Judy was an ardent history lover – tracing her family roots back a dozen generations to Benjamin Franklin, as she frequently told her grandchildren. She took ample records of daily life, including a daily journal from the beloved family cabin in McGregor Bay Ontario, and reminded everyone to do the same. Her home was decorated with family photos spanning many generations and homemade family gifts. Judy was a caretaker, a teacher of 25 years impacting countless lives through her commitment and character; a gentle soul, and a deep lover of family, history, and education.

She is preceded in death by parents Leah and Joseph Harris, brother Jim Harris, and sister Barbara (Harris) Hollingshead.

She is survived by husband Ivan Wagner, son Craig (Janissa) Wagner, daughter Sherri (Mathew) Thornton, grandchildren Whitney (Justin) Strange, Keaton (Abby) Wooden, Andrew (Rianne) Wagner and Stephanie (Thomas) Steele, and great grandchildren Colt, Beau, Judd and Zoey.

Celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 12th at Walker Funeral home in Winchester Indiana; Visitation 10:00 a.m. and services 11:00 a.m.

Judy donated to the following charities; World Vision, Christian Center of Anderson, and The Salvation Army. We are sure she would appreciate any donations going to those charities in her honor.
