Joycelyn Marie (Stephen) Wray

Joycelyn Marie Wray, of Winchester, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, August 02, 2023 at her home.

Joyce was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on December 17, 1949 to the late Alice and Denzel Stephen.

She graduated in the class of 1968 from Delta High School.  Joyce was a faithful member of Harrisville Congregational Christian Church where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Women’s Aid, decorated the church and was a member of the ‘PEW group’.

Joyce leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 54 years, Philip; son, Mark Wray (Robyn) of Momence, Illinois; son, Brian Wray (Allison) of Mableton, Georgia; son, Stephen Wray (Jodi) of Muncie, Indiana; sister, Vickie Wells (Richard) of Frenchburg, Kentucky; brother, Dennis Stephen (Kathy) of Centerville, Indiana, and four grandchildren and one great grandson.

She loved working the yard, and cooking.  She had a green thumb and grew beautiful flowers and tasty vegetables in her gardens.

Joyce was a wonderful wife, loving mother, and the best grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandson.  Family, friends and faith were the most important things in her life.  She will be dearly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.

She lived a full, happy life, enjoying every moment, making us laugh through our tears even when we had to say goodbye.

The family would like to thank all who helped Joyce during the last year but especially her sister Vickie for her loving care and compassion.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Harrisville Congregational Christian Church with Pastor Coleman Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at Fountain Park Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., prior to the service.  Memorials may be made to the Harrisville Congregational Christian Church, 4900 East South Street, Union City, IN 47390.
