Joyce Lynn (Williams) Jones

Joyce Lynn Jones, 79, of Winchester, Indiana passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, July 10, 2024 at Pine Knoll Rehabilitation Center.  She was born in Bluffton, Indiana to her wonderful parents, Max and Aline Williams on October 3, 1944. 

Joy graduated in 1962 from Driver (Winchester) High School.  She then attended school at International Business College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.  Joy returned to Winchester following her studies and worked initially at Ball State University before beginning a career with Overmeyer Mould Company as a secretary in the personnel department for over twenty-five years where she excelled at what she did.  Following her time at Overmeyer’s, Joy ran a business from home helping many Overmeyer retirees receive the benefits and care they deserved.  She had a heart of gold and a quick wit.  In retirement she found much enjoyment spending time with her family, her many friends, and her social groups such as the Red Hat Society, the Winchester Alumni Association, and her sorority Delta Theta Tau.  Joy was devoted to serving others and she truly loved helping anyone that she could. Because of her commitment to her community, she will not only be missed by her family but by all of those who love Winchester like she did. 

Joy is survived by her son, Michael (Amanda) Jones, her grandson Calmar Jones, sisters Jeanne (Warren) Aikin, Jill (Steve) Ashe, nephews Steve (Jenny Dunica) and Chris (Miranda) McFarland, Paul (Katie) Ashe and niece Abbie (Randy Jones) Ashe, great nephews Easton Jones, Bentley McFarland, Colton Ashe and great nieces Britain McFarland, Madison Jones, Elise McFarland, Greer Jones and Blakely Ashe.  Joy was preceded in death by her parents.

Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at Summers Pointe, Home Health Angels, Randolph Nursing Home, Keystone Hospice, and Pine Knoll Rehabilitation Center for taking such great care of Joy.  We also want to extend a special thanks to Sheree Walker who loved and cared for Joy as much as we did.  Our family will be forever indebted to you for your incredible kindness during our very challenging times.  You are all so appreciated.

Joy’s grandson, Calmar Jones, would like to invite everyone to a celebration honoring his grandma on Thursday July 18th, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Walker Funeral Home in Winchester, Indiana.  The service will be on Friday July 19th, 2024 at 11:00 am with Pastor Melissa Kleinschmidt officiating with calling one hour prior to the service.
