John S. Norris, 79, of Lake Placid, FL, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 18, 2021, following health complications at Advent Health Hospital Sebring, FL. He was born September 24, 1941, in Winchester, IN, to Joseph and Ethel (Corn) Norris.
John graduated from Driver High School in Winchester and from there he joined the United States Air Force as a mechanic. John was a mould maker. He earned his apprentice from Overmyer Mould and eventually worked at Armstrong Mould, Maul Technology, and retired from Anchor Glass. John loved fishing, boating, square dancing, playing darts, pool, and card games.
He was a member and past member of the Am Vets, Phi Delta Kappa, Moose Lodge, American Legion, Eagles, and the Bi-State Steppers.
John is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Susan (Criss) Norris; daughters, Kimberly (Troy) Foust of Ridgeville, Katherine (Todd) Manning of Celina, OH, and Pamela Bradburn of Greenville, OH; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; step daughters, Kimberly Cruea and Nancy Skaggs; sister, Teresa (Nick) Wood of Muncie; brother, David (Robin) Norris of Wilson, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph and Edward Norris; sisters Mary (John) Woodard and Barbara (Eldon) Robbins.
A service to celebrate John’s life will be at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, April 23, 2021 at the Walker Funeral Home with Father Matthew Arbuckle officiating.
Friends and family may call from 12-2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in John’s name may be made to Phi Delta Kappa Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 66, Winchester, IN 47394.
