Joe Paxton, 80, of Winchester, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. He was born on July 18, 1942, in Ladoga, Indiana to Claude and Lucy Paxton.
Joe was a veteran of the US Army. He painted water towers, worked at Overmyer Mould, Corning, and Target. Joe attended Winchester First Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed watching TV, playing games, and spending time with his family, especially enjoying the special time spent with his grandson Quentin.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Emma Kay Paxton; his grandson, Quentin Joe Leander Courtney; and two sisters-in-law, Gretchen (Stanley) Hendrickson and Robin Hufnagle.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sheila L. (Canada) Paxton; and his son, Kevin Joe Paxton.
A service to celebrate Joe’s life will be at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at the Winchester First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Danny Hines officiating. Burial with military services will follow at Spartanburg Cemetery.
Friends and family may call an hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.
