Jerald “Jerry” L. Chamness, 88, of Winchester, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife Diana. Jerry was born on December 28, 1933, in Lynn, Indiana, to Charles Chamness and Lavaughn (Moore) Romack. They preceded him in death.
Jerry graduated from Jefferson High School in 1952. While in school he played baseball, basketball, and track.
Jerry was a Korean War veteran. He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper in Germany and Korea from August 1957, through August 1960 when he received an Honorable Discharge. Jerry received the Marksmanship Medal while in the U.S. Army.
Upon his return to the states, Jerry began working at Anchor Hocking in the mold repair department where he dedicated the next 48 years of his life before he retired.
In retirement, he loved to travel in his motorhome to Florida and Arizona. He enjoyed playing golf and cards.
He is survived by his wife Diana; a sister Nancy (Steve) Chalfant; three children, daughter Jerri Jo (Randy) Crist, son Mike (Lori) Chamness, daughter Lisa Chamness and Don Hill; Gwendolyn (Dave) Rook, Jeffrey (Tracy) Gourley, Angela Hicks, Edward (Stephanie) Hicks; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father Robert Romack; a brother George Romack; a sister Diane Smiley; and grand-daughter Michelle Brooks.
The family extends appreciation to EverHeart Hospice of Winchester who cared for Jerry prior to his death.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester, Indiana.
