Janet J. Shaffer, 85, of Winchester, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Pine Knoll in Winchester.
Janet was born on March 17, 1941, in Belington, WV to the late William and Maude Harris. She was a 1959 graduate of Belington High School. Janet married Milton C. Shaffer on June 12, 1960, they were married 62 years before his death in 2022. Janet was a homemaker and had also worked for Anchor Hocking Glass for five years. She volunteered at Randolph Nursing Home for 13 years. She was a member of Valley Bend Baptist Church in Belington. Janet enjoyed cooking, baking, canning vegetables out of the garden, and crocheting. Her greatest joy was time spent with her son and grandson.
Janet is survived by her son Lowell Shaffer; and grandson, Logan Shaffer (wife Alexis).
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, and one brother.
A funeral service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Walker Funeral Home, 248 E. South St. in Winchester. Pastor Wayne Hedden will officiate. Burial will follow in Fountain Park Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
