Homer John Waltz III (John), 80, of Winchester, IN, passed away on August 29, 2023 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN with his family lovingly by his side. John was born on September 1, 1942 to Homer John Waltz II and Josephine (Puckett) Waltz in Winchester, IN.
John lived in Winchester all of his life, where he served as a board member of the Winchester Library and a Winchester City Council Member. John had a popular painting business, “John Waltz Painting” for many years. He was a follower in the teachings of Christ and a longtime member of the Life Spring Church. John touched the hearts of countless people in his life. He had an enormous sense of humor and always had a joke to share. John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
John met his dear wife Nancy (Benson) Waltz many moons ago when painting her house. Their love was a match made in heaven. They blended their beloved family by marriage on July 14, 1988.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Homer John Waltz II and Josephine (Puckett) Waltz. He is survived by his wife Nancy Waltz; daughter, Jonna (Waltz) Jones (Jeff Allen), granddaughter, Logan (Jones) Hess (Brennen Hess); great grandsons, Greysen Hess (9) and Hayden Long (3); granddaughter, LeAnne (Jones) Lopez (Jose Lopez), great grandson, Joshua Lopez, great granddaughters, Charleen Lopez (6), Jasmine Lopez (4), and Mia Lopez (3); granddaughter Lydia Jones; daughter, Roxanne (Waltz) Zordani (Rick Zordani), grandson, Jake Zordani (14); son, Chad Waltz (Kim Waltz), granddaughter, Oliva (Waltz) Schoentrup; son, Gordon Cooper (Linda Cooper), grandson, Brice Cooper, Russell Cooper, and Vaughn Cooper; daughter, Jade (Cooper) Malott, grandson, Reasner Malott, granddaughters, Eliza Malott and Meredith Malott.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 3:00 p.m., at Life Spring Church, 5600 U.S. Highway 27 N in Fountain City, IN. Per John’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, please have donations made to the Cancer Services of Randolph County, 325 S Oak St. Suite 208, Winchester, IN 47394.
