Hagan Coy Lawson Jr.

December 30, 1944 ~ March 18, 2022 (age 77)

Hagan “Coy” Lawson Jr., of Winchester, IN went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, March 18th, 2022. Coy was born on December 30th, 1944, in Virginia to Hagan Lawson Sr. and Bernice Lawson.

Coy was a 1963 graduate of Lee L. Driver High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, after serving two tours in Vietnam. He worked at Ohio Valley Gas Company as Director of Gas Supply/Customer Relations when he retired after 40 years of service in 2007. He was also the owner of Lawson Real Estate and StarLite Skating Center.

Coy, or “Papaw” as he was commonly known by, unconditionally and unselfishly loved his family and supported them all his life. He showed up when it mattered, had your back, gave to those in need, and would defend and stand up for his loved ones should the need arise. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to classic country music, fishing at the Farmland Conservation Club, golf cart rides and sporting events with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon Lawson; sons David (Tonya Lawson), Nick Lawson; daughter Stephanie Lawson; grandchildren Justin Speed, Katie (Corey) Webb, Riley Bowmer, Hagan Lawson III, Sarah Bowmer, Connor Lawson, and many great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Lee Glidewell. He was preceded in death by his father, Hagan Lawson Sr.; mother, Bernice Lawson; brothers Herman Lawson, Jimmy Ricky Lawson; sister Bette Glidewell; grandson Alex Lawson.

The family would like to thank EverHeart Hospice and those who prayed for Coy during his illness. He will be missed, but the love and cherished memories that he has left behind are unmeasurable.

Following his wishes, no services will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Journey Home (325 S Oak Street Suite #101, Winchester, IN 47394).
