On the morning of February 16th, 2026, Gary Evan Gray 74 years old entered the pearly gates up above reluctantly. He had lived on this Earth as long as he could. He left behind his lovely wife of almost 40 years and dance partner, Susie.
He was born on March 18th, 1951, to John Mitchell and Janet Elaine Lasley in Winchester. His grandparents were Bessie and Elmer Gray and Evan and Dorcus Lasley. Also left behind are his daughter Dawn Renee Gray of Indianapolis and son, Anthony Evan Gray of Garrett, seven grandchildren Miranda Martin, Morgan Blansett, Melody Hendricks, and Megan Blansett all of Nashville, Tennessee area. Elijah Johnson of Louisville, Kentucky Israel and Simeon Gray of Fort Wayne area Gary is also survived by two half-sisters Jonel Heaston of New Castle and Johnna Healy of Arcanum, Ohio, step siblings are Cheryl Huston and Terry Huston of Darke County, Ohio and Dan Huston of Muncie. His two brothers Nick and Chris preceded him in death.
Gary Graduated from Winchester Community High School in 1969 attending both old and new buildings. Growing up he had paper routes, worked at Reeds Drug Store, Jacks Surplus City, Shepherds Clothing store, and wake up gas station all before working at OMCO Foundry for 21 years. He had other assorted jobs involving farming and managing Beachler Apartments with Susie. He loved being a lawnmower cowboy at his home on the range. His favorite saying was “It is what it is.”
