Elsie Coblentz Obituary

Elsie Louise Coblentz, 82, of Winchester, passed away Friday, April 14th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 16, 1940, in Loris, South Carolina.

Elsie worked at Anchor for 30 years and retired in 2002. She served as a financial secretary of GMP, and as a retiree remained very active as a member on the Glassco Committee. Upon retirement, Elsie also enjoyed serving as the Avon lady of Winchester.

Elsie appreciated the beautiful things in life, never stepping out without looking her best. She loved getting her hair and nails done, but most of all spending that time chatting and catching up with the many wonderful people she called her family and friends. She was considered a local celebrity by many. Whether you’ve known her all your life or only recently met, you could always count on her warm smile and gentle heart to bring a ray of light to your day.

She also enjoyed watching NASCAR on Sundays, going to her breakfast and lunch clubs, bowling with her Moose buddies, reading and shopping.

Elsie is survived by her life partner of 63 years, Jerry Coblentz; her children Patty (Randy) Mikel and Judy Stevick; grandchildren Tashena Lindsey, Travis Stevick (Miranda Wendell), Chanda (Jeff) Stevick Herinckx, Mallory Mikel and Grant Mikel; great-grandchildren Logan (Steven) Jackson, Quentin (Maria) Flynn, and Maddie and Spencer Herinckx; great-great-grandchildren Brynleigh Jackson and Eli Mark Flynn; her brother David (Della) Collins; brother-in-law Danny Hudson; sister-in-law Lunette Collins and several nieces and nephews.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents John D. and Flossie Collins, her brothers Leverne and Harry Collins, her sisters Hazel Hudson and Joyce Collins, her son-in-law Mark Stevick, and her great-grandson Brandon Stevick.

Friends and family will meet to celebrate Elsie’s life from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester.  Services will be held the following day on April 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home, with Pastor Amory Merriman officiating, with calling an hour before.
