Dorothy Myrl Lacy, 99, of Farmland Indiana passed away peacefully April 10, 2025 at the residence of her daughter.
Born October 16, 1925 in Winchester, Indiana to Iva Pearl and Ollie Brown Smith.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years Mox Adron Lacy, son Gary Wayne Cales, sisters Alberta Keister and Mary Wilma Bray and her brother Larry Smith.
She is survived by a brother, Everett Smith, a daughter Melissa Jones (Kevin), sons William Lacy (Patricia), Terry Lacy, Stephen Lacy (Carol), Ronald Lacy, Donald Lacy (Marlene), nieces and nephews and oh so many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Dorothy was fond of telling the story of how she met her husband. They both worked in the “cow shed” at Anchor. When she was transferred to the box room, he soon followed. The rest is a rich and fruitful history. Her work history included Anchor and then as her family grew, she worked part time at the American Legion. This job brought her $25.00 a week. She saved all her money from this job and would buy household items.
Being a diverse extremely gifted artist was one of her many talents. Teaching herself to oil paint by watching videos of Bob Ross. Also self teaching herself wood working, tole painting, sewing and embroidery are some of the many achievements.
Dorothy will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity and love for all of her family and friends. Mostly for her perseverance, strength and her ability to accept anything and all that life would bring her with dignity and grace.
Graveside services will be held on April 16, 2025 at 1:00pm at Reitenour Cemetery, Ridgeville, Indiana. She would have liked that any memorials be made as donations to your preferred charity or cause.
