Donald D Simmons

Donald D. Simmons, 63, of Winchester, IN passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Randolph Hospital in Winchester.  He was born on October 9, 1959, in Winchester, to Ronald E. and Marjorie E. (Guthrie) Simmons.

Donnie was a 1978 graduate of Winchester Community High School.  He worked as an inspector at Omega Enterprises and “Don Juan” also had worked at Maul Technology.  As a dedicated enthusiastic fan of Brady Bacon, Don also enjoyed watching NHRA, auto racing, sprints, and midget races.  He was a member of the ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) Breakfast Club at Mrs. Wicks. While enjoying outside, with great attention to detail, Don was meticulous about everything including his vehicles and yard.  In his leisure time he enjoyed eating out and spending time with his grandkids.

Don is survived by his wife, Lora (Hoober) Simmons; son, Chris (Karlin) Simmons; step son, Jarrod Fisher; brother, Tim (Peggy) Simmons; nephew, Travis (BreeAnn) Simmons; four grandchildren, Tori Simmons, Cayden Simmons, Abigail Fisher, and Addison Fisher; and several grand nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Don was preceded in death by his parents.

A service to celebrate Don’s life will be at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester, with Steve McCoy officiating.  Burial will follow at Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.

Friends and family may call from 2-6 p.m., on Thursday, February 16, as well as an hour before services on Friday, all at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, and as expression of sympathy a memorial contribution maybe sent to Cancer Services of Randolph County, 325 S. Oak St. Suite 208, Winchester, IN 47394, in memory Donald D. Simmons.
