David Reno Obituary

David “Dave” Lee Reno passed away on April 16, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 30, 1957, in New Castle, Indiana, to Raymon and Mary Reno. He married Dena Simmons in 1998.

Dave was a 1975 graduate of Winchester Community High School. After graduation, he briefly worked at Sheller-Globe and was the owner of Katy’s Pools for 27 years. Dave attended Jericho Friends Church and was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Beta Eta Chapter and Moose Lodge No. 1977.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Reno; wife, Dena; daughters Lindsay Reno (Josh) and Megan Simmons; granddaughters Paisley Nash, Camreigh Hunt and Bianca Velazquez-Reno; grandson Elijah Bynum; sister Karen (Lloyd) Ashley; sister-in-law Angie (Todd) Hummel; brothers-in-law Brian Weist (Andrea), Scott Weist (Amanda); mother-in-law and father-in-law – Dave and Carol Weist; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Dave loved his family with all his heart; he was his sister Karen’s hero. He especially adored his grandchildren. Dave and Paisley were a dynamic duo on their golf cart rides and he loved taking his grandchildren on vacations. His favorite destination was Florida, where he loved watching sunsets and spending time with “his Bianca.”

Dave Reno was the life of the party; most people referred to him using his first and last name – like all true legends. A Hawaiian shirt was his wardrobe of choice, whether at work, having a drink or with family. A true child of the 1970s, he loved rock and roll music and had the hairdo to match. Dave enjoyed playing golf, bowling, drinking a bourbon and spending time with his friends.

As passionate as he was about his family, Dave was equally loving of his friends and community. He would’ve done anything for anyone. And, he gave the tightest hugs; you knew he meant it.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Raymon; brother-in-law Shane Simmons; maternal grandparents Fred and Anna Mae Logston; and paternal grandparents Luther and Fern Reno.
