Daniel Rex Mills, 86, passed away on December 7, 2023 at home in Noblesville, Indiana. He was born on July 8, 1937 to Bonnie Mills Thornburg in Winchester Indiana.
Dan was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, class of 1955. He married his high school sweetheart, Rosalie, on March 16, 1957 and had celebrated 60 years of marriage before her passing. Dan worked at Spartan Casket Shell throughout his entire life though it went through some different names toward the end. He started as a welder and through the years worked up to Plant Manager, then President of York Casket in Lynn, Indiana. Dan served in the military in the National Guard. He also served many years with the Winchester Moose Lodge and Union City Elks. He loved playing golf, bowling, and volunteering as the President of the Winchester Community High School Marching Band Aids parent organization for the years his daughter Sandy was in the marching band. Later in life, he used that same devotion and love of family supporting his grandsons in the many years of their sporting events and school programs. And recently had just become a great grandfather to Grayson who he was enjoying spending time with.
Dan is survived by his daughter Sandy Mills English, Noblesville; grandsons Kyle and Nicholas English, Noblesville; and a great grandson, Grayson Daniel English; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie Mills, his mother, Bonnie Thornburg, step-father, Carroll Thornburg, brother, Daryl Thornburg, sister, Arlene Kay Mills, and his infant daughter, Karen Sue Mills.
