Dale N. Shutz

Dale N. Shutz, 76, of Winchester, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Reid Hospital in Richmond.  He was born on October 1, 1945, in Richmond, Indiana, to Harold and Dorothy Shutz. 

Dale worked road construction for 40 years.  He served in the Army National Guard.  Dale was a member of the Moose Lodge in Winchester for 17 years, Ridgeville American Legion for 8 years, and belonged to the International Union of Operating Engineers from July 7, 1969 to May 18, 2022 for 53 years.

Dale was married to the love of his life, Kathy Shutz for 47 years.  He loved old cars, car shows, he was always out in his garage tinkering in his garage or sitting in his garage taking a nap and sitting in the sun, or he was lying in the swing sleeping.  He also enjoyed running around with this friends and most of all spending time with this grandkids.  Dale also would help anyone who needed help.

Dale is survived by his children, Dale Shutz, Jr (wife Mary), Tim Brown (wife Debbie), and Carla Hall (special person Wayne Thornburg); his grandchildren, Josh and Sydni Brown, Zack Brown, Jeremy and Shannen Brown, Ashley and Brandt Miller, Kodey Shutz, Gary Shutz, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Shutz, Jordan Thornburg, Dakota Slife, and Shytan Wysong; great grandchildren, Easton Brown, Mila Brown, Griffin Brown, Maddux Brown, Mason Brown, Addison Brown, Maddie Baby Girl on the way in September, Lily Miller and Audrey Miller; a brother, Arnold (Barb) Shutz and a sister, Laura Shutz.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy; his parents; and two brothers, Paul Shutz and Gary Shutz and a sister, Marjorie Young.

A service to celebrate Dale’s life will be at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, May 23, 2022, at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester, with Chaplin Rick Alvey officiating.  Burial will follow at Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Monday, at the funeral home.
