Cozetta “Coe” Ratliff, 83, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, at Persimmon Ridge Nursing Home in Portland, Indiana. Born on November 17, 1941, in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, she was the beloved daughter of Noah and Esther Centers.
For 20 years, Coe worked in the dietary department at Randolph Nursing Home, where her gentle spirit and warm smile left a lasting impression on both residents and coworkers. Whether through a quiet presence or a loving glance, Coe always had a way of making those around her feel safe, welcomed, and truly cared for.
She was a phenomenal cook. Whether she was making a holiday meal or a simple supper, Coe put love into every bite and her food brought people together. Some of the best memories were made around her table—laughing, sharing stories, and feeling completely at home.
Family was the center of Coe’s world. She loved fiercely and unconditionally, always putting others before herself. She gave endlessly—her time, her wisdom, and her heart. Her love was the kind that made you feel safe without a word, and her care ran deep and true. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion that will live on in her children, grandchildren, and all who had the blessing of knowing her.
She is survived by her daughters Teresa Ratliff (Larry) and Tonya (Geoff) Rittenhouse, and her sons Jason (Tina) Ratliff and Jonny (Trish) Conover. She was a cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to many. Coe was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray Ratliff, and her son, Jimmy Ratliff.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
