Connie Chloe Smiley, 83, of Winchester passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Pine Knoll Rehabilitation Center. Connie was born on July 26, 1941 to Merle & Kathleen Moyer. She was a 1959 graduate of Ward Jackson High School where she was Prom Queen her senior year. She married the love of her life, Stanley Lee Smiley, on December 12, 1959. Stan & Connie celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this winter.
Connie loved to care for others, regularly cooking delicious meals that included everyone’s favorite dessert. Connie’s children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She spent as much time spoiling them as she could. Connie also loved to skate from the time she was little through her adult years and could dance skate beautifully. She enjoyed participating in the Happy Homemaker’s Club and was awarded the Happy Harvester’s Star Chapter Farm Wife in 1974. Connie worked several jobs around the square in Winchester where she was often remembered as a very friendly person who didn’t know a stranger. In fact, if you pulled into her driveway, you were almost guaranteed to be invited to stay for dinner and she didn’t take no for an answer.
Connie was survived by her beloved spouse, Stan Smiley of Saratoga, three children, Ron (Jenny) Smiley of Winchester, Beth Colvin of Union City, and Chris (Julie) Smiley of Winchester, two grandchildren, Payton (Rob) Shiffler and Dalton Smiley, one great-granddaughter, Chloe Kathleen Marie Shiffler, and her twin brother, Joe (Marcia) Moyer of West Plains Missouri.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers, Otis, Jim, Bill, Bob, John, and Charles Moyer.
Friends & family may share their condolences between 10 am and noon on Saturday, February 8 at the Saratoga Church of God. A memorial service will begin at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dementia Society of America can be made in Connie’s honor.
