C. Dean Walters

C. Dean Walters passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2023 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born on October 6, 1940 to George and Anna Walters.  He was 83 years of age.

Dean graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1958 and served in the National Guard Army where he was recognized for his outstanding service. He married the love of his life, Patty on May 29th, 1965. Together they raised their family in Winchester.

From a business owner to a Little League home plate umpire, Dean was an active member of the community. He was a member of Countryside Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Winchester Lions Club where he positively influenced many young lives on and off the baseball field. Dean spent the majority of the past 37 years of his life doing what he loved most, watching or attending his grandchildrens’ activities.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Jacob Godbey.

He is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Patricia (Chapman) Walters, his daughters Andrea (Steve) Kirk and Jacinda (Patrick) Mapes, his grandchildren Kaitlyn Hawkins, Ryan Hawkins, Bailey Gates, and Elias Gates, one great grandson Maxwell Hawkins, siblings Gene (MaryEllen) Walters, Jim (Eleanor) Walters, and Janet (Gerry) Thomas, and several nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Dean’s life will be at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, December 22, 2023, at the Walker Funeral Home, with Rev. Melissa Kleinschmidt officiating.  Burial will follow at Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester. 

Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Friday, at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Countryside Christian Church for the purpose of outreach. Address: 1212 E 100S, Winchester, Indiana 47394.
