Betty Jean Shaffer, 79, of Winchester, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at her home. She was born on December 13, 1942, in Greenville, Ohio to Otho and Mabel (Snyder) Schultz.
Betty was a 1960 graduate of Union City High School. She had worked at Anchor Hocking Glass for 10 years and worked at Jay County Hospital. She was a member of the Winchester First Church of the Nazarene. Betty enjoyed running the nursery at the church and baking. Most of all she enjoyed her children and her grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her husband, Ira Shaffer; a daughter, Beth (Joday) Auker of Ridgeville; a son, James (long time companion Sandy Kelly) Shaffer; two grandchildren Hayden Auker and Rogan Auker; two sisters, Janice (Ray) Turner and Joan McCarter; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Paul Schultz, Harold Schultz, Gale Schultz, and Roy Schultz.
A service to celebrate Betty’s life will be at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the Walker Funeral Home, with Pastor Danny Hines officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Friends and family may call from 12-2 p.m., on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Winchester First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 403 S. Main St., Winchester, IN 47394
