Bertie J. Huddleston, 89, of Winchester, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Pine Knoll Rehabilitation Center. She was born on April 2, 1935 in Winchester to Perry Hickam and Lannie (Taylor) Shaffer.
Bertie graduated from Richmond High School and on August 3, 1956, she married Gary Huddleston. She retired after 27 years at Anchor Hocking. Bertie was a member of Abundant Life Church in Winchester, where she was the church secretary. Bertie loved working in the ice cream parlor at the church camp where she became known as the milkshake lady. She enjoyed watching the Gaither’s, taking cruises and traveling. She couldn’t tell you a thing about the Colts or the Pacers, or other sports but she loved watching them all.
Bertie is survived by her daughter, Donna (Gene) Estes; her two sons, Russ Huddleston and Bill (Debbi) Huddleston; 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren with 1 on the way; and a sister, Mary Ellen Colvin.
Bertie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gary Huddleston; and a brother, S.E. Hickam.
