David Franklin Smiley, 79 of Ridgeville passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.  He was born on January 12, 1942, to Gerald B. and Lola (Castle) Smiley.

David was a Vietnam veteran, serving from 1963-1965 as a member of the Signal Corps. He trained in Fort Hood in Texas.  He was employed at Maul Tech in Winchester, Indiana for 42 years as a Production Supervisor, retiring in 2006.  David was a woodworker who donated many projects to charitable organizations.  He was married to Marsha Diane (Romack) Smiley on November 18, 1966 in Winchester, Indiana.  They spent 51 years together before her death in 2017.

David is survived by his sons, Shane (wife Deborah) Smiley and Brandon (wife Angela) Smiley; grandchildren Lazarus Smiley (Trinity Hill) and Allison Smiley; step-grandchildren that he considered his own, Zach Clabaugh, Aubree (husband Jason) Perry, and Willow Basso; step-great grandchild, Harper Brabson; brothers: Paul Smiley, Robert Smiley, Stanley (wife Connie) Smiley, and John (wife Karon) Smiley; sister, Martha Bake; sister in laws Nancy (Steve) Chalfant and Sandy Romack; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Lola Smiley, his wife Marsha Diane Smiley, sister in laws Phyliss Smiley and Janetta Smiley. brother in laws Jim Bake, Danny Green, and George Romack

At David’s request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.

Memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or Cancer Services of Randolph County.
