Michael Dean Medler passed away surrounded by his family at his home on Sunday, December 27, 2020.  He was born on July 19, 1945 in Muncie, Indiana at Ball Hospital.

Mike grew up on a farm in the area of Farmland.  This is where he learned his work ethics of working hard and doing the job right.

After graduation, he worked at Delco Battery in Muncie, Indiana.  He left there to become the Chief Deputy Sheriff in Randolph County.  Mike was the first deputy to graduate from the Law Academy in Bloomington, Indiana.  While at the Sheriff’s Department, Mike and Dan Reed established the first Reserve Deputy Program.  Mike was the first director of the Ambulance Service.  He supervised the purchase of the ambulances and the personnel that were hired for the service.

He left the Sheriff’s Department to go work for Astral Industries in Lynn.  He worked for Charlie Shaw in management and the transportation department.  He then decided to form his own transportation company called Justa Freight Company which was started in 1982.  He decided to add a fleet of trucks to help with the brokerage.  This company was called JFC Transportation.

He bought a small farm and called it Indian Hill Farm.  He purchased Rocky Mountain Horses and eventually won the International Grand Championship with his stallion named Rockin’ Dobbin.

Mike’s passions were his family, Harley Davidson motorcycles, and his horses.

Mike is survived by his wife, Diana.  His daughters are Stephanie (Lyle) Finney and Angela (Kevin) Taggart.  Granddaughters are Shelby and Lindsey Finney, Victoria (Cody) Dale.  His great-grandchildren are Mila and Maddix Dale.  His brother is Larry Heston.

He is preceded in death by his Mother Evelyn, his grandparents, Russell and Hazel Medler and brother, Lee Heston.
