Joe Jarrett, a lifelong Randolph County resident, passed away on December 7 at the Randolph Nursing Home. Born on August 1, 1918, Joe was one of eight children in a rural White River Township farm family. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1936 and retired from Overmyer Mold Co. in 1982 after over 45 years of service there. He was active in the Buena Vista Church for over 65 years, and was a member of the Buena Vista Cemetery board for many years.
He and his wife, Florence (Johnson), raised two children, Ron (wife Jane) Jarrett of Jeffersonville, IN and Winifred (Jarrett) Enghaus (Ed Enghaus-deceased) of Fishers, IN. After the passing of Florence, he later married Marcile (Swindell) Jarrett of Carlos. He has step-son Terry (wife Peggy) Swindell of Winchester and Becky (Swindell) Irish-deceased. Also, grandchildren Bradley Enghaus, Craig Jarrett, Jeff Jarrett, Amanda (Jarrett) Thomas, and Shawn Jarrett, Heather (Enghaus) Kenison-deceased, and 14 great-grandchildren. Also, step-grandchildren Greg Irish and Virginia (Irish) Kenyon and two step-great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at the Buena Vista Christian Church at 2 pm on Thursday, December 10, with Rev. Steve Conner officiating. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the Buena Vista Cemetery Assn., at 5434 W. 300S, Farmland, IN 47340.
