Ardith (Ardie) Ann Casperson Age 83 of Winchester, Indiana passed away on Friday December 21st 2018

Ardie was born June 29, 1935 in Winchester, Indiana to the late Deo Pierce McKee, Freda McKee Segraves and step-father, Charles Segraves. She was a graduate of Winchester High School in 1953. She attended and received a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University. She was an elementary education teacher for the Randolph Central Schools Corporation for 34 years. She was known by her students and parents as “Mrs. C”. She was nominated for the Shining Star Award for excellence in teaching by her students and parents.

Ardie was a member of the Main Street Christian Church and was baptized in 1945. She was a member of the Indiana State Teacher’s Association, Delta Kappa Teacher’s Honorary, and Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She started The Red Hat Society, called the Classy Old Broads, in Winchester along with her dear friend Jan Hawkins in 2002.

She enjoyed her family, friends and college sweetheart/husband of 53 years, Chuck Casperson. She loved to read and was on the Winchester Library Board for several years. She loved teaching and maintained friendships with many former students.

Ardie is survived her daughter, Jill Conover of Sellersburg, IN, a son Scott Casperson of Marion, IN, three grandchildren: Kyle Monnin, Christie Casperson, Michael Crabtree; a sister Janice (Kenny) Austin, sisters in-law Harriet Kelly and Judy McKee, a daughter in-law Joni (Rick) Bates, and life- long friend  Billie Jo Hart, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chuck, in 2013, a brother Larry McKee, a step- brother, Ronald Kay Segraves, and brother-in-law Gene Kelly.

A service to celebrate Ardie’s life will be at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester, with Becky Merriman Gibbons officiating.  Burial will follow at Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.

Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m., on Wednesday, December 26, and an hour before the services on Thursday, at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Winchester Public Library, 125 N East Street, Winchester, IN 47394 or any charity of the donor’s choice.
