George E. Monroe, 81, of Winchester passed away on October 11, 2018 at his home.  He was born on August 6, 1937, in Winchester, to Noah D. and Bertha (Greene) Monroe. 

George retired from Westinghouse in Muncie.  He enjoyed traveling, hunting, and building things.

George is survived by his wife, Kathy Monroe; three sons, William “Bill” (Kathie) Monroe, Kim (Jane) Monroe, and James (Shirley) Monroe; two daughters, Bonnie (Jerry) Stewart, and Becky (Jesus) Gomez; grandchildren, Noah Monroe, Isaiah Monroe, Trevor Monroe, Melanie (Shane) Jones, Katelin Ashley, Alexie Ashley, Shaundell Ashley, Jaiden Fields, Strawberry Fields, Isaiah Fields, Julius Fields, and Braedon Baker; and two sisters, Evelyn Hitchens and Barb (Jimmy) Crist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, James Waylon Monroe; two sisters, Rose Ellen Monroe and Mary Wilker; and two brothers, Willie Monroe and Jesse Monroe.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at Fountain Park Cemetery. 

Friends and family may call from 12-2 p.m., at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester.
