Russell L. Martin, 81, of Winchester, passed away on March 24, 2018, at the Pine Knoll Rehabilitation Center in Winchester.  He was born on January 25, 1937, in Bryant, IN, to Paul W. and Ermal M. (Fifer) Martin. 

Russ graduated from Bryant High School.  He served as a member of the National Guard.  Russ retired in 1999 from Portland Forge, as well as working as an officer for the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department and the Winchester Police Department.  He enjoyed ballgames, the outdoors, family, his grandkids and dogs. 

Russ is survived by his six children, Chris (Kim) Martin, Carey (Amber) Martin, Tammy Stoker, Tim Stoker, Terri Ashley, and Todd Stoker; seven grandchildren, Brandon Martin, Hayden Martin, Isaac Martin, Matthew Martin, Trenton Stoker, Spirit Stoker, and Versais Stoker; and a sister, Nellie Martin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Janet; and two sisters, Betty Himes and Anna Martin.

Graveside service for Russ will be at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 29, 2018, with Pastor Jeff Hensley officiating at the Fountain Park Cemetery, in Winchester.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Journey Home, 325 Oak St., Winchester, IN 47394, or Cops on Present Patrol, P.O. Box 408, Winchester, IN 47394.
