Lorrene Garringer, 99, of Winchester, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018, at Summers Pointe, in Winchester.  She was born on November 16, 1918, in Randolph County, to Oscar and Ethel (Byrum) Harris.

Lorrene was a graduate of Saratoga High School.  She was a homemaker and worked at the Driver Middle School Cafeteria for 27 years.  She attended the Congregation Christian Church.  Lorrene was also a member of the Sugar and Spice Home Extension Club and the Y’s Owls, in Winchester. 

Lorrene is survived by her children, Richard (Ruth) Garringer of Beattyville, KY, Mary (James) Thornburg, of Winchester, Robert (Tana) Garringer, of North Salem, IN, and Marjorie (Douglas) Connor of Mt. Olive North Carolina; two sisters, Margaret Ramsey of Converse, IN and Jeannie Flesher of Portland, IN; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her death by her parents; her husband, Thurman Garringer; and four brothers, Rexford Harris, Isom Harris, Robert Harris, and Norvel Harris. 

Funeral services for Lorrene will be at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Walker Funeral Home, in Winchester, with Junior Byrd officiating.  Burial will follow at the Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.

Friends and family may call from 4-7 p.m., on Wednesday, February 28, as well as an hour before services on Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials in Lorrene’s name can be made to the donor’s choice.
