Lt. Col. Glen R. Ludy (USAF Ret), 80, of Winchester, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Reid Hospital, in Richmond.  He was born on March 22, 1935, in Winchester, to Robert Henry and Glenna (Gransinger) Ludy.

Glen was a 1953 graduate of Winchester High School and a 1957 graduate of Ball State Teachers College.  He taught math in Jay County for one year before entering the United States Air Force in 1958.  While in the Air Force, he served as a navigator on the B-47’s, B-58’s and the F111’s.  After two tours in Thailand and Vietnam, a heart attack in 1974 ended his flying career.  Glen then served in the Maintenance Organization at Mountain Home AFB, in Mountain Home, ID, before retiring in 1979.  He received numerous decorations during his career, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with 7 Clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with 1 Cluster, and numerous other lesser medals.  After retirement, he worked for the Jay/Randolph Developmental Center, retiring in 1995.  He was a member of the Winchester American Legion Post # 39, an avid stock market trader, and enjoyed watching football on TV.  He especially loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 33 ½ years, Norma (Keys) Holdeman Ludy of Winchester; three daughters, Jennifer (Dennis) Ludy Grove of Muncie, Kerri (Jimmy Martin) Ludy of Winchester, and Beth (Chris) Krieg of Portland; four grandchildren, Bradley Hole, Jessica Allen, Garrett Krieg, and Lauren Krieg; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Jenkins and Raegan Quattlebaum; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Charles A. Ludy, and a sister, Roberta Chronister.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Walker Funeral Home, in Winchester.  Burial, with Military Rites, will follow at the Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Recently I lost my dear mother,
and found great comfort in the words of Jesus at John 11:11-14,
where he likens death to being asleep, and at John 5:28,29 - "All
those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out."
