Darwon " Bud " Smith, 82, of Winchester, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Sunday, November 29, 2015. He was born on May 2nd, 1933, in Winchester to the late Donald Smith and Dorothie Stonerock Brinser . He was a star basketball player for WCHS, and later joined the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He retired from OMCO, after working there for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing cards, betting the horse, and flirting with the ladies.

   He is survived by his son, Donnie Smith ( Robert Crawford ), Orlando, Florida, daughter Marna Smith Crist ( Luke Blizzard ), Winchester, sister Patricia Smith Rentschler , Sun Lake Arizona , grandchildren Niki, Josh, and Brittany Crist , and several nieces and nephews . He is preceded in death by his parents Donald Smith and Dorothie Stonerock Brinser, brother Rolland Smith, and son David Smith.

  His wishes were to be cremated and have a Celebration of life which will be held at the A & B Cafe (his favorite pastime ) in Winchester, Indiana on Sunday December 13th from 2pm until 6pm . Dress casual and bring your favorite Bud Smith story. Cards can be mailed to Marna Crist , 1165 S. 400 W, Winchester, Indiana, 47394 if you cannot attend.

My deepest sympathy to the family. I remember Bud from when my dad used to do the write-ups of the ballgames for the newspaper. May he rest in peace.
